clean up

summary:
unfortunately, despite working 14-16 hour days, i've fallen a bit behind in my paperwork. so, in order to make sure that the student work that i look at tonight and tomorrow is an accurate representation of what students know and can do right now, today was primarily a day for completion and revision of past assignments.

before that independent work time, however, students listed important new facts that they had learned about slave resistance from the text they read for homework. we charted and discussed those facts, and i answered a wide variety of questions about slavery during the 1800s. of particular interest were the topics of rape and miscegenation, and i explained that it was not uncommon for slave owners to rape enslaved african women, and we discussed that brutal fact and its implications.

homework:
none.
