summary:
we began by writing gravestone epitaphs for henry ward beecher that summarize who he was and what he did. then, students got into groups based on the expert text they had read the night before for homework, and charted the most important ideas in their text. after that, they broke into smaller groups and wrote scripts for a short skit that teachers their classmates those important facts. the skit must include at least three characters and two relationships, and must have a clear action or event. the script must be at least ten lines long. some students began rehearsing.
